Marlon Brando is a legendary actor known for such classic films as ``A Streetcar Named Desire'' ``On the Waterfront'' and ... ``Scary Movie 2''? The producers of ``Scary Movie,'' one of last summer's biggest -- and silliest -- hits, said on Tuesday that Brando had agreed to appear in the sequel, which they are touting as the veteran actor's first ``flat-out comic role.''
``In an unprecedented move, Dimension Films has landed movie icon Marlon Brando in a wild, comedic turn,'' Dimension Films co-chairman Bob Weinstein said in a statement. ``He will join the offbeat comic genius of Keenan Ivory Wayans (and) brothers Shawn and Marlon Wayans in their reprisal 'Scary Movie 2,''' Weinstein said. Keenan Ivory Wayans directed ''Scary Movie,'' which was written by Shawn and Marlon Wayans. Weinstein said Brando agreed to the part -- described only as that of a priest who performs a ``supernatural exorcism'' -- after meeting Keenan Ivory Wayans and finding a ``kinship with his brand of comedy.''
``Scary Movie 2,'' also stars Anna Faris, Tori Spelling, Chris Elliot, Andy Richter and Tim Curry. Brando was said to have agreed to making a cameo appearance in ``Scary Movie 2'' -- for a reported $2 million --pending word that the legendary 77-year-old actor has developed a case of pneumonia.
UPDATE: (Reuters) - In the end, it was an offer he couldn't accept. Marlon Brando has dropped out of a reported $2 million deal to play a four-day cameo role in 'Scary Movie 2' because of continued illness, the company making the film said.
